Da Nang City in central Vietnam is poised to celebrate Tet, or Lunar New Year, by having its iconic Dragon Brigde put on fire-and-water shows for four consecutive nights this month, local officials said.

The Dragon Bridge, modeled after a mythical creature in Asian cultures, has been the stage for spectacular fire-breathing shows at 21:00 on weekends since its inauguration in 2013.

This upcoming Tet, the bridge will spout more plumes of water and fireballs to thrill locals and tourists at night from January 23 to 26, according to the Da Nang People’s Committee.

In addition, the nearby Han River Bridge will also swing on its axis to allow shipping traffic to pass along the river between 23:00 on January 25 and 00:00 on January 26.

Bus routes No. 05, TMF, R15, R16, R17A, and No. 01 will also be re-routed for the fire-breathing shows, the municipal transport department said.

The six-lane Dragon Bridge is built over the Han River in Da Nang, connecting Hai Chau and Son Tra Districts and serving as a success symbol of the fast-growing central Vietnamese city.

The 2020 Lunar New Year will fall on January 25, with preperation and celebration taking place a week before and after the date.
