The Ministry of Health confirmed 46,880 coronavirus cases in Vietnam on Monday, in addition to 13,235 hospital discharges and 104 virus-related deaths.

The newest cases, including 19 imported and 46,861 domestic transmissions, were detected in 62 provinces and cities, the health ministry said, elaborating that 32,975 caught the pathogen in the community.

Hanoi reported 5,477 of the latest local cases, Bac Ninh Province 2,582, Phu Tho Province 1,908, Quang Ninh Province 1,898, Thai Nguyen Province 1,862, Hai Duong Province 1,815, Hoa Binh Province 1,782, Vinh Phuc Province 1,734, Nam Dinh Province 1,715, Hai Phong City 1,707, Ninh Binh Province 1,684, Bac Giang Province 1,622, Nghe An Province 1,419, Yen Bai Province 1,280, Thanh Hoa Province 1,257, Lao Cai Province 1,181, Thai Binh Province 1,103, Da Nang 907, Quang Nam Province 842, Ho Chi Minh City 797, Khanh Hoa Province 596, Lam Dong Province 477, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 376, Thua Thien-Hue Province 245, Binh Thuan Province 98, and Can Tho City 14.

Vietnam had logged 47,192 domestically-transmitted infections on Sunday.

The country has documented 2,827,112 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Over 2.29 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City is on top of the case count with 520,790 patients, followed by Binh Duong Province with 294,139, Hanoi with 204,023, Dong Nai Province with 100,537, Tay Ninh Province with 89,155, Ca Mau Province 58,603, Binh Phuoc Province 51,218, Hai Phong City 53,670, Da Nang with 49,745, Dong Thap Province with 47,844, Vinh Long Province 45,054, Can Tho City with 44,697, Long An Province with 41,981, An Giang Province with 35,780, Tien Giang Province with 35,444, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province with 34,488, and Binh Thuan Province with 30,683.

Vietnam registered only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry announced 13,235 hospital discharges on Monday, lifting the national count to 2,294,669.

The toll has increased to 39,605, with104 pathogen-related fatalities added today. 

Vietnam has recorded 2,834,373 patients in total, including 205 imported and community-based Omicron infections, since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Healthcare workers have given upwards of 191.6 million vaccine doses, including 294,753 shots on Sunday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

Over 174.9 million doses have been administered to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 70,875,480 first shots, 67,285,487 second doses, 13,400,975 additional primary jabs, and 21,899,290 boosters.    

A total of 16,761,339 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,610,021 first doses and 8,151,318 second jabs.
