Around 20 cars parked on the sidewalk or by the roadside near Linh Dam Lake in Hoang Liet Ward, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi were believed to have their tires punctured by vandals, said a local official.
A representative of the Hoang Liet Ward People’s Committee said on Monday morning that local police are working to clarify the case.
A report surfaced on social media earlier the same day, saying that more than 20 cars parked near Linh Dam Lake suffered tire punctures.

According to a Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper correspondent, the affected cars were parked on the sidewalk along Nguyen Phan Chanh Street near the lake.
Some others parked by the roadside in the area encountered the same fate.
Each car tire had around 1-2 punctures, with each measuring about one centimeter long.
D.T.Q., 46, a resident of the Linh Dam apartment building, told Tuoi Tre that he learned of the car tire punctures in his neighborhood from social media on Monday morning.
The man immediately rushed to a parking lot and discovered his car tire had two punctures.
“It costs over VND2 million [US$86] to repair the tire punctures," he said.
“This is the first time that such an incident has happened in the area. I feel angry at those damaging personal property."
D.V.H., another resident in the area, also had his car’s two tires punctured.
“I hope authorities will quickly identify and handle the culprit,” the 40-year-old man said.
There are several parking lots in his place, but H. and many neighbors opted to temporarily park their cars on the sidewalk for their own convenience, he said.
