The administration of Da Nang City, located in central Vietnam, launched its Intelligent Operation Center (IOC) on Monday in an attempt to facilitate the coastal locality’s digital transformation and smart city development.
The IOC is in charge of collecting and combining urban information and data in all fields for analysis, then enabling all-level leaders to supervise, manage, and make decisions about public services offered by the city.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the municipal administration, said the IOC establishment will speed up the city’s efforts in conducting its digital transformation and building a smart city.
The chairman asked relevant agencies and local authorities to share, synchronize, and update data in their fields in an accurate, appropriate, and timely manner.

He described the IOC as an important component of a smart urban city, and added that the launch of the center marked a significant change in the city by switching its ways of management from traditional practices to the digital mode.
In 2020, the central coastal city commenced the pilot operations of a smart urban service monitoring center, offering some basic services following the guidelines of the Ministry of Information and Communications, according to Nguyen Quang Thanh, director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications.
This smart urban service monitoring center was considered a miniature model of the IOC and paved the way for the launch of the IOC.
The Da Nang IOC offers 15 smart urban services to serve all-level leaders, businesses, and local residents.
