Man faces prosecution for riding motorbike in wrong direction on Hanoi bridge, hitting car

Police in Tay Ho District, Hanoi on Tuesday launched legal proceedings against a 24-year-old man for driving in the wrong direction and hitting a car on the Nhat Tan Bridge.

According to police, D.V.T. has no driver's license and ran in the opposite direction in a lane for cars under the influence of alcohol from Tay Ho District to neighboring Dong Anh District on September 17, 2023.

He collided head-on with a car and fell onto the bridge, resulting in his severe injuries.

The crash also damaged the front end of the car with losses totaling VND200 million (US$7,842).

The Tay Ho District police bureau urged local residents to adhere to traffic laws while on the road.
