Some 168 young delegates from 10 ASEAN countries and Japan are going to join a month-long cruise trip in one of the most important annual foreign affairs activities for young people in the region.
Following the success of previous journeys, the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) 2024 is slated to set sail in November.
At the invitation of the Japanese Cabinet Office, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the National Committee for Vietnamese Youth has put together a delegation to participate in the 48th trip for SSEAYP in 2024.
SSEAYP 2024's main activities will take place on the Nippon Maru cruise ship from November 4 to December 11.
This year, the vessel will dock in three countries, namely Japan, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
This year's SSEAYP is a major milestone of the program as 168 delegates from the 11 countries are set to join the trip.
The Timor-Leste delegation will participate in the program as an observer.
Since its inception in 1974, SSEAYP has established its position as one of the most important annual foreign affairs activities for young people in ASEAN and in Japan.

Participants will embark on a month-long cruise voyage across ASEAN and Japan, while hosting diplomatic and bonding activities both on the cruise ship and in visiting countries.
The main purpose of the trip is to enhance understanding, solidarity, and friendship between Japan and Southeast Asia.
Over the years, SSEAYP has become a dream journey for many young people, bringing unique experiences and golden opportunities for Vietnamese, ASEAN, and Japanese youth.
In Vietnam, participants in previous journeys have come together and formed a close-knit community of aspiring youths.
The Vietnamese delegation participating in the 48th SSEAYP - 2024 (VPY48) consists of 17 delegates, who are outstanding young people of many ages, subjects, and professional fields.
Among the delegates, commonly called 'ambassadors,' are doctors, the assistant brand manager of Vietnam’s leading dairy producer Vinamilk, former delegates of high-level diplomatic programs for the youth, and U.S. and British government scholarship beneficiaries.
Vo Thi Binh Nhi, welfare and guidance administrator from the British International School - Ho Chi Minh City (Nord Anglia Education), is also among the SSEAYP 2024 participants.
