The Hanoi Basketball Academy (HNBA) co-founded by Hanoi Buffaloes basketball club has successfully organized a selection day for young players from 10 to 17 years old.

The event took place over two weekends at Hoang Mai Gymnasium, attracting hundreds of young basketball lovers.

The participants, born between 2005 and 2013, had a chance to experience and become familiar with tests in a professional sports environment.

"Today's recruitment was very fun, and I met lots of new friends from all over Hanoi,” said Le Thanh Cong, one of the participants.

“Through the tests, I was able to know more about my basketball skills and ability.

“Thank you HNBA for organizing a healthy playground."

Following various physical and basketball tests, the HNBA coaching staff, including the head coach of Hanoi Buffaloes Eric Weissling, selected 20 young boys and girls with good potential to be included in the HNBA First Team.

“Young people have had many favorable conditions to develop their physique and basketball skills over the past years,” Nguyen Trong Bao Nguyen, HNBA's professional director, assessed.

“Many under-14 and under-17 players have already reached an impressive height of 1.8-1.9 meters."

Many coaches at the HNBA previously played in the VBA professional basketball tournament, namely Tu Duong Huy of Saigon Heat and To Ngoc Khanh of Nha Trang Dolphins, among others.

Nguyen Khanh Truong, a star player of the University of Transport and Communications basketball team that was the runner-up of the 2022 National Student Basketball Tournament, is also among the coaches here.

Besides the athletes with professional experience, the HNBA coaching staff also includes foreign experts.

HNBA not only creates an environment for young players to sharpen their skills but also organizes competitions to discover new talents.

Members of its under-12 and under-17 teams recently competed at the 3x3 Mamba Sport Cup 2022 in north-central Nghe An Province.

The training and development of sports talents of children are the long-term goals of HNBA as well as Hanoi Buffaloes, the leading professional basketball club in Hanoi.
