Around 100 classic vehicles gathered in Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam on Sunday to join an exchange program, as part of a cross-border race to explore four Southeast Asian nations, called Road to Hanoi Marathon.
Among them are 27 cars hailing from eight countries, while the rest are owned by Vietnamese gearheads.
The fleet is scheduled to drive across Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos from January 28 to February 23.
Participating in the race held by Rally The Globe, a vintage and classic club headquartered in Britain, are Bentley, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz cars which are over 50 years old.
They are owned by billionaires and businessmen who love collecting vintage vehicles and exploring new lands.
‘Road to Hanoi Marathon’ is expected to help popularize Vietnam’s landscapes among international friends, said Vo Nhat Minh, CEO at FUMITA Company, one of Vietnam’s representatives at the exchange program between Rally the Globe and Vietnamese motorists.
“Most of the participants in the journey are successful and renowned. They will drive on multiple charming and spectacular paths and tracks in Vietnam," Minh said.
“These motorists might tell their friends and family members about their race in Vietnam, which will make the country famous.”
As planned, the fleet of Rally The Globe classic cars will start in Ho Chi Minh City and tour Vietnam for 16 days, explore Cambodia for two days, travel to Thailand for five days, and drive on magnificent paths in Laos for four days.
These international luxurious and antique cars will return to Vietnam and wrap up their race in Hanoi on February 23, local media reported.
Founded in 2018, Rally The Globe brings together car lovers and motorists from many European nations and the United States.
