A new train route called the ‘Central Heritage Connection,’ linking Hue City in Thua Thien-Hue Province with nearby Da Nang City in central Vietnam, commenced operations on Tuesday.
The introduction of the route is part of the joint efforts by the two localities to bolster their connectivity and boost tourism.
It represents a novel offering combining transportation and tourism services, providing passengers with fresh and captivating experiences in history, culture, and heritage.
The train consists of 10 carriages, equipped with air conditioners and soft seats placed next to windows.
This arrangement allows passengers to enjoy the picturesque scenery along their trip between Hue and Da Nang, renowned as one of the most beautiful railway routes in Vietnam.

Two carriages offer Hue cuisine and traditional Hue music.
The cuisine carriage provides an array of Hue delicacies such as ‘banh it’ (sticky rice dumplings), ‘cha lua’ (Vietnamese pork sausage), and 'nem Hue' (Hue cured fermented pork), along with various beverage options for passengers to enjoy during their journey.
Adjacent to this carriage, a group of artists will entertain tourists with Hue chamber music, amidst a décor that pays homage to ancient royal traditions.

The three-hour journey treats visitors to breathtaking sights, including Lang Co Bay, Hai Van Pass, and Tien Sa Beach.
The train makes a special stop at Lang Co Station, positioned halfway up Hai Van Pass, allowing passengers a 10-minute break to disembark and capture photos.

As per the schedule, train HD1 departs from Hue at 7:45 am and arrives at Da Nang Station at 10:35 am, while train HD3 leaves Hue at 2:25 pm and comes to Da Nang at 5:40 pm.
Trains HD2 and HD4 depart from Da Nang at 7:50 am and 3:00 pm, and arrive at Hue at 11:05 am and 5:45 pm, respectively.

Passengers are offered discounted fares of VND150,000 (US$6) per person during the inaugural month.
In addition, travelers can opt for a monthly ticket priced at VND900,000 ($36) per person and individuals with meritorious service to the country can enjoy discounts ranging from 10 to 50 percent.
VIP waiting rooms at Da Nang and Hue Stations will offer local specialty food to passengers.
