Dozens of monkeys have quickly adapted to the natural habitat on an island within Vu Quang National Park in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam upon release following their rehabilitation there.
The four-hectare island, situated in Ngan Truoi Lake within Vu Quang National Park in Ha Tinh’s Vu Quang District, serves as a sanctuary for releasing monkeys back into their natural habitat.
It also functions as a testing ground to monitor their adaptation process.

Over the past year, Vu Quang National Park, in collaboration with Animals Asia Foundation, has reintroduced 25 monkeys to the island.
Currently, 12 monkeys reside on the island, comprising two stump-tailed macaques, one Assam macaque, six northern pig-tailed macaques, and three Indochinese rhesus macaques, while the remaining 13 have moved to other areas within the park.

This group of primates was entrusted to Vu Quang National Park by the forest ranger unit of Kim Mon District in northern Hai Duong Province.
After a period of observation and care, they were deemed fit for release into the wild.
Staff have consistently monitored the macaques’ activities following their release.

Situated in a globally significant ecological zone, it plays a crucial role in biodiversity preservation and environmental security for the Central Truong Son area and the wider ASEAN region.
