A culinary festival featuring Chinese food will be organized in Cho Lon neighborhood in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City next month.
Entitled 'Cho Lon Food Story,' the event with the theme of dim sum foods will see the participation of more than 50 booths, most of which come from reputable restaurants and eateries in the district.
The event expects to showcase signature dishes of Chinese cuisine such as dumplings, braised duck with noodles, roast duck, and chicken rice, to name a few.
In addition, there will also be programs including cultural and culinary talks, food demonstrations, dimsum making, folk games, and music.
According to Tran Minh Sang, head of the District 5 bureau of economics, the festival aims to contribute to preserving and promoting Chinese and Vietnamese traditional cultural and cuisine values.
Besides, it honors Chinese cuisine in the hope of turning the district into the city's leading culinary tourism destination.

District 5 and neighboring areas in District 6 and District 11 are collectively known as Cho Lon -- home to the largest community of Chinese Vietnamese in the southern metropolis.
"District 5 is where the Chinese population has been living for a long time,” Sang said.
“Also, this is a place of cultural interference and a tourist attraction thanks to many unique architectural works and rich cuisine.
“Through the festival, we'll convey the story about the culinary culture and customs of the Chinese community in Cho Lon.”
The Cho Lon Food Story will take place from December 1 to 3 at the District 5 Cultural Center at 105 Tran Hung Dao Street.
