Vietnam Airlines changes 5 flights due to storm Hagupit

Vietnamese national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has adjusted five flights scheduled for Thursday, December 11, for the sake of safety of passengers as storm Hagupit is nearing south-central Vietnam and may be stronger on Thursday.

>> Storm Hagupit to weaken before hitting Vietnam Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines will not launch flight VN1561 on the Hanoi-Nha Trang route while starting four other flights sooner than scheduled for the route between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang City and Da Lat City. Specifically, flight VN1382 from HCMC to Da Lat and flight VN1383 from Da Lat to HCMC will take off 5 hours and 15 minutes earlier than previously scheduled. Meanwhile, flight VN1364 from HCMC to Nha Trang and flight VN1365 from Nha Trang to HCMC will take off 7 hours and 30 minutes earlier than previously planned.  The firm said it will follow up on the storm’s movements and its effects to adjust flight schedules and flight plans to ensure safety of passengers. New information related to flights adjusted by Vietnam Airlines in coping with the coming storm will be updated in the firm’s further notices. Passengers who intend to travel to central, south-central and southern regions on December 11 and 12 should closely follow the storm’s information to be proactive in adjusting their travel plans, the firm advised.

According to the Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, storm Hagupit is now moving at 20 km toward south-central Vietnam and may strengthen during its course. At 1 pm Thursday, the storm may be seen 180 km off the coast between south-central Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan province, with winds of 88 kph and squalls of 103-133 kph. In the next 24 hours, the storm will continue to move west-southwest at 20 kph and land in the region between south-central Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces. It will then weaken into a tropical depression and then a low pressure area before moving to the southeastern region, the center said.
