Traffic police in Ho Chi Minh City have retrieved CCTV footage for further processing in a case where about 10 Harley-Davidson motorcycles illegally entered the car lane on Binh Loi Bridge along Pham Van Dong Boulevard on Sunday.

An officer confirmed the violation on the same day.

At 7:45 am, a group of about 10 high-capacity motorcycle riders were running in the car lane along the bridge, which connects Thu Duc City and Binh Thanh District, shocking and frightening many commuters due to potential traffic accidents.

Some bystanders quickly captured the dangerous act and posted these photos on social media.

Traffic officers are teaming up with relevant units to identify the traffic violators and to levy fines on them.

Under prevailing regulations, a motorcyclist who travels in a wrong lane is subject to a fine of VND400,000-600,000 (US$16.4-24.6).

Pham Van Dong Boulevard allows two-wheeled vehicles to travel in the car lane from 6:00 am to 9:00 am, and between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm each day.

However, these motorcycles are banned from entering the car lane on Binh Loi Bridge.
