Over 5,000 police officers participated in a rehearsal for a parade and impressive martial arts performances in Hanoi on Sunday, giving audiences a feast for the eyes.

The parade is aimed at marking the 50th Traditional Day of Mobile Police Forces (April 15, 1974).

Organized by the Mobile Police Command, the rehearsal was attended by Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Commanding General Major General Le Ngoc Chau, and other top officials.

During the rehearsal, thousands of mobile police officers paraded, practiced martial arts, and showed other skills, creating a solemn, imposing, and powerful scene.

Siren sounds and shouts of commands, coupled with thunderous footsteps, suffused the Hanoi Circuit in Nam Tu Liem District.

“The rehearsal has been a result of police officers’ efforts in practicing night and day over the past three months,” said Lieutenant General Long.

Bui Manh Tam, a 21-year-old police officer, said that to prepare for the rehearsal and the upcoming anniversary ceremony, he and other officers had enhanced their persistence and spent all days and nights practicing on the training ground.

“We braved heatwaves and downpours to improve our health and our martial arts skills. Our love for missions and the country encouraged us to overcome all hardships,” Tam said.
