-- The administration of Lang Son Province, northern Vietnam and Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park and Township Development (VSIP) JSC on Friday broke ground on the VSIP Lang Son project, which spans an area of nearly 600 hectares in Huu Lung District and carries a price tag of some VND6.3 trillion (US$247 million).


-- Crowds of local residents and international visitors flocked to the Cashless Day Festival in downtown Ho Chi Minh City on Friday evening to experience non-cash shopping services. The event, held from Friday through Sunday on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1, is among a series of events supporting the 2024 Cashless Day (June 16).

-- A heavy downpour pounded Ho Chi Minh City on Friday afternoon, turning many downtown streets including Calmette, Nguyen Thai Binh, and Le Loi Boulevard into rivers and making life tougher for commuters.

-- Authorities in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa conducted a mock drill on landslide preparedness on Friday in Khanh Vinh District, with the participation of close to 1,000 people and vehicles.

-- Rescuers were searching for a resident who was suspected to be swept away by swift-moving water during intense rainfall accompanied by hail on Friday evening in Tan Uyen City under Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam, a local official said on the same day.


-- Six national champions were announced at the awards ceremony of the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship - Viettel 2024 in Hanoi on Friday. These champions will represent Vietnam at the world finals of the 2024 MOS World Championship held in the U.S. from July 28 to 31, the Vietnam News Agency reported.


-- The second edition of the Hanoi Autumn Festival is scheduled to take place in the Vietnamese capital city from September 12 to 15, according to an announcement recently released by the municipal People’s Committee
