Vietnam performed an explosive start to the on-going AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2014 after it routed Kyrgyzstan 12-0 on Friday in the group C’s second match. Two days earlier, Vietnam beat host Bahrain 8-0.

Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet repeated her scoring ability when she took Vietnam to the lead after her opening goal just three minutes into the game. In the match with Bahrain, she had opened the score just three minutes after the opening whistle.

It was the start to seal her hat trick on the day on the Manama national stadium. Her second goal came in the 12th minute, six minutes after defender Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh doubled it to 2-0, while her third was scored in the 22nd minute following a 14th minute effort from Nguyen Thi Xuyen.

Just a minute after Nguyet completed the treble, Nguyen Thi Hoa lifted it to 6-0. Nguyen Thi Muon sealed it 7-0 with a goal in the 34th minute before the match came to a break.

Striker Muon had created a hat-trick in the 8-0 win over Bahrain two days before.

Five other goals were made in the second half by Hoa, Kim Tien and substitute Huynh Nhu who scored twice.

In the other game of the second match day, Hong Kong beat the host Bahrain 3-1.

On Sunday, Vietnam will encounter Hong Kong, who also has all two wins in the group.

With the results, Vietnam plays the role of a favorite to lead group C.

The group stage of the 2014 Asian Cup has four groups of 16 teams, including Vietnam. Four winners from the groups will advance to meet the four automatic qualifiers -- including Australia, Japan, China, and South Korea -- to make an eight-team final to compete for the top five places to head to Women’s World Cup in Canada in 2015.
