Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, southern Vietnam is offering discounts ranging from 10 percent to 65 percent at 34 tourism businesses, including premium hotels and resorts, to spur travel demand during the off-peak season.

The provincial Department of Tourism, in collaboration with local agencies and the provincial Tourism Association, launched a tourism promotion program on Friday.

Trinh Hang, director of the provincial Tourism Department, emphasized the goal to position tourism as a key economic driver in this coastal province through such tourism promotion events.

The program features 34 tourism-related service providers who will offer discounts and promotions from 10 percent to 65 percent to visitors using their services from now until December 31, 2024.

These 34 businesses include five-star hotels and luxury resorts in Vung Tau City; Phuoc Hai Town in Dat Do District; Ho Tram, Ho Coc, and Binh Chau in Xuyen Moc District; and Con Dao Island.

This program also highlights 233 tourist sites and 54 travel routes within the province, a popular destination that has attracted both domestic and international tourists in growing numbers in recent years.

During the rest of the year, the province will host a series of tourism, sports, and cultural events, including a performance exchange between Vung Tau City and South Korea’s Gunsan City, the Mister World 2024 competition, the Strong Vietnam International Marathon 2024, the third Vung Tau City Trail 2024, Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Recently, plenty of individuals and organizations in the province's tourism sector have received prestigious awards.

Since 2019, Vung Tau City has won the ‘ASEAN Clean Tourist City’ award three times, while hotels and resorts across the province have been recognized with ASEAN awards for MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) facilities, spa services, and eco-friendly initiatives.

In the first nine months of 2024, Ba Ria - Vung Tau served approximately 13.2 million visitors, achieving nearly 85 percent of its annual target, marking a 21-percent year-on-year increase.

Its tourism revenue during the nine months is estimated at VND14.1 trillion (US$555.8 million), equivalent to 86 percent of its annual target and rising over 23 percent from last year.
