Vuong Dinh Hue, chairman of the lawmaking National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam, arrived in Argentina at 5:00 pm on Sunday (local time), starting his official visit to this Latin American nation.

His visit takes place at a time when Vietnam and Argentina are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Argentina is the second destination on the top Vietnamese legislator’s trip to three Latin American countries Cuba, Argentina, and Uruguay between April 18 and 28.

The NA chairman and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation were welcomed at Ministro Pistarini International Airport in the Argentine capital city of Buenos Aires by Cecilia Todesca Bocco, Secretary for International Economic Relations under the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Maria Rose Martinez, President of the Argentina-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group; Duong Quoc Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina and Uruguay; and the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina.

During his visit, NA Chairman Hue will hold talks with top Argentine officials and sign cooperation agreements between the two legislative systems.

The top Vietnamese legislator will also witness the signing of cooperation deals between the two countries’ ministries and agencies, attend a business forum, visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina as well as meet the Vietnamese community in this Latin American nation.

Argentina was one of the three Latin American countries, after Cuba and Chile, to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on October 25, 1973.

The Vietnam-Argentina friendship and cooperation ties have been consolidated and flourished over the past five decades.

Vietnam considers Argentina as one of its top partners in Latin America.

Aside from their sound political and diplomatic ties, their economic, trade, and investment cooperation has continued to advance, paving the way for a long-lasting relationship between the two nations.

Vietnam is the sixth-largest trading partner and the fifth-largest export market of Argentina in the world as well as a key partner of Argentina in the South-South cooperation in Southeast Asia.

Argentina is Vietnam’s third-largest trading partner in Latin America. The two nations have clinched many cooperation deals in a bid to bolster the Vietnam-Argentina comprehensive cooperation.

The Southeast Asian nation and the Latin American nation target US$10 billion trade by 2025.
