The daughter and grandson of a 71-year-old woman who was earlier diagnosed with novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Da Nang have been put under quarantine in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Health Center of District 11 said its staffers had been dispatched to the Lac Long Quan Apartment Building in Ward 5 to trace people who were in close contact with patient No. 420, the moniker given to a female COVID-19 patient from the central city of Da Nang.

The woman visited her daughter at the apartment building from June 21 to July 8 before returning to Da Nang, where she lives with her husband, son, and daughter-in-law.

On July 12, she exhibited symptoms of a fever and chest pain. She was admitted to Da Nang C Hospital on July 22.

She was tested for the new coronavirus on Saturday and the result came back positive on Sunday.

The woman is being treated at Da Nang C Hospital.

Health officials in Ho Chi Minh City have quarantined her daughter and grandson, who were in contact with the woman during her visit to their apartment in District 11, pending testing results for the novel coronavirus.

Her grandson, a sixth-grader, is taking his summer vacation, but the health center decided to bring his case to his school’s notice as a precaution.

As observed by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, residents entered and left the apartment building as usual on Monday morning. Stores on its ground floor were still open.

The shared walkway in the building’s Block D, where the elderly woman stayed with her daughter, has been disinfected.

Vietnam has reported four locally-transmitted infections since Saturday after nearly 100 days without one. The country’s COVID-19 tally was 420 on Monday afternoon.

Two of the new patients are in a critical condition and on life support in Da Nang.
