A pod of over 10 dolphins was believed to be sighted in the waters around Phu Quoc Island off the coast of Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, according to a video recorded by a local resident.

The 25-second video showing the school of dolphins has attracted thousands of views and reactions on TikTok.

However, the time of the video's recording remains unknown, said Tran Ngo Minh Toan, director of the Kien Giang Marine Protected Area Management Board, on Saturday.

He added that the board would verify the video's authenticity.

Dolphins had earlier been seen in the waters of Phu Quoc, Toan added.

Ganh Dau Commune in Phu Quoc City boasts a clean marine environment and a diverse ecosystem.

This creates an ideal habitat for young fish, attracting pods of dolphins to the area in search of food.
