Vietnamese artists Hien Phuoc and Thanh Hoa won the Grand Prix prize, the highest award at an international circus festival held in Yakutsk, Russia from June 27 to 30 for their circus act titled ‘Moment of Love.'

Luu Thi Bich Lien, deputy director of Phuong Nam Art Theater in Ho Chi Minh City, who is the trainer of Hien Phuoc and Thanh Hoa, said the festival is held every four years.

This year's edition, which is the seventh version, gathered nearly 100 artists from 12 countries and territories, such as China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

Thanh Hoa told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that she and Hien Phuoc had joined many international circus competitions but they were still nervous to wait for the result of this fest.

In 2023 and 2024, their ‘Moment of Love’ performance won various prizes at international circus festivals, including a gold medal at an international circus festival in Almaty City, Kazakhstan; a silver at an international circus festival in Russia; and another silver at an international circus festival in Bulgaria.

It was also honored as an excellent performance at Great Wall Cup, an international circus festival in China.

Lien spoke highly of the artists’ diligence to make their performance a harmonious combination of techniques and art.

They always try to take advantage of opportunities to prove their ability and learn from international circus artists, Lien added.
