As of December 2, local channels Let’s Viet and VTC9 will start to broadcast the first episode of Asia’s next Top Model, the Asian version of the renowned reality modeling show America’s Next Top Model, at 9:30pm every Sunday night.
Thuy Trang, who finished fourth at the 2011 Vietnam’s Next Top Model, is the representative of Vietnam at the competition which is in its first year, held in Singapore.
The winner of the first season will be offered a contract with the London- based Storm Model Management company and appear on Harper's Bazaar Singapore magazine.
According to organizers, the Asian version gives young Asian women with modeling aspirations an opportunity to prove that they can make it in the high-stress, high-stakes world of international modeling.
The original America’s Next Top Model was created in 2003 and is still hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks. The success of the format has seen localized series being produced in over 20 markets including Australia, Brazil, Germany, Russia, New Zealand, Britain & Ireland, Italy, Greece, Mexico, Korean and Vietnam. The US version is licensed in over 100 markets around the world.
