-- Thanks to the support of two security officers at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, a Vietnamese passenger managed to receive his backpack with US$15,075 in cash and personal documents inside that he forgot at the airport after flying home from South Korea on Thursday night.

-- A survey conducted by the Meeting Targets and Maintaining HIV Epidemic Control (EpiC) project in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health between December 2023 and May 2024 revealed that 34 percent of healthcare workers in the city are at risk of depression, 31 percent face anxiety, and 25 percent experience stress.

-- Heavy rainfall is expected to decrease in central Vietnam, while the Central Highlands and southern regions could continue to experience more heavy downpours on Saturday, according to the national weather agency.

-- The consumer price index (CPI) of Vietnam from January to September this year expanded 3.88 percent from a year earlier, while core inflation, which excludes the prices of fresh food, energy, and state-controlled healthcare and education services, rose 2.69 percent year on year, according to data recently released by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.

-- Hospitality-recreation developer and operator Vinpearl, military-run telecom group Viettel, lender Vietcombank, tech giant FPT, and dairy company Vinamilk were honored as Vietnam’s five most valuable brands at the 'Top 100 Most Valuable Brands in Vietnam 2024' award ceremony held by Brand Finance, the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy, in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.

-- Vietnam's state utility EVN has revised up the average electricity retail price from VND2.006,79 ($0.0808) per kWh to VND2,103.11 ($0.0847) per kWh (excluding value added tax), effective from Friday this week.

-- Boeing will cut 17,000 jobs, delay first deliveries of its 777X jet by a year and record $5 billion in losses in the third quarter, as the U.S. planemaker continues to spiral during a month-long strike, Reuters reported.

-- Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo, a grassroots movement of atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, in a warning to countries that have nuclear weapons not to use them, according to Reuters.
