With the arrival of the northeast monsoon in northern Vietnam, much of the region and some areas in the north-central part started to encounter cold conditions from Friday night, according to the national weather center.
Temperatures dropped to 19-22 degrees Celsius in most areas, while high mountain regions experienced temperatures below 14 degrees Celsius.
The typical temperature in the northern mountainous region averaged from 16 to 19 degrees Celsius.
In the Gulf of Tonkin, strong northeast winds were accompanied by rough seas, resulting in waves measuring 1.5 to 3 meters in height on Friday.
As of Saturday, the northern part of the East Vietnam Sea encountered strong northeast winds, rough seas, and waves reaching heights of two to four meters.
As reported by the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, Storm No. 5 deescalated to a tropical depression.
The center of the tropical depression was situated in the northwest sea near Hainan Island, China on Friday night.
The speeds of the most intense winds near the center of the tropical depression ranged from 39 to 49 kilometers per hour.
It was moving in a southwest direction at 10 to 15 kilometers per hour.
